The yellow mealworm is the larvae for the adult dark mealworm beetle. While in the larva stage of its life, this insect is yellow and feeds on grain products. After the yellow mealworm metamorphoses into the adult form of the dark beetle it continues to feed on grain. This insect's scientific name is Tenebrio molitor. This insect is classified in the order Coleoptera because it is a beetle.
