The Yellow Douglas Fir Borer is found in coniferous and mixed forests, Especially from California to British Columbia. The eggs are laid on the bark, and then the larva eat into the deadwood, During winter the larvae pupate and surface in the spring as adults. They lay their eggs on the Douglas firs, which they are named after, And they enjoy the Douglas firs at high elevations in the West.
