This is the Five-banded Tiphiid Wasp found in meadows, fields, and lawns, Their range is in the U.S.A. and Canada, except in the West. The females lay one egg in a May beetle, and the larvae penetrate the host, The larvae eat nonessential tissues, and then finish off the beetle. Adult Tiphiid Wasps drink nectar and have black and yellow stripes. |
