The Red Velvet-ants look like true ants, only with hair, And they live in arid and semiarid open lands. They are found in the Southwest United States, In addition, while males are winged, the females are wingless. The adults drink nectar, but not much is known about larval food, Their life cycle is also not very well known, either.
