In the coniferous and mixed woods of Northeastern US up to Canada, You find the Dogday Harvestfly, a certain type of cicada. Mostly seen during the "dog days" of summer, When the pine trees are cut down, it is really a bummer. The nymphs of this insect suck on pine root juice, While the adults don't eat any part of the spruce.
