A vaccine is given to prevent a future more serious infection. Vaccines work by introducing weak or dead viral cells into your body. These particles are not capable of making you seriously sick, but your body produces antibodies to remove the foreign particles from your bloodstream. Once these antibodies are made they stay in your bloodstream for years, removing every virus particle. |
