The Tiger Swallowtail has yellow wings with black stripes on them, like a tiger. This coloration breaks up the outline so that it is difficult to tell the difference between the vegetation that it lives on. The name swallowtail comes because of the long tail like extensions of the hind wings. It is the largest butterfly in the country and has a wingspan of 4 inches. |
