Distinguished Visitors

A key goal of the Berry Center is to bring business leaders, scholars and policy experts directly into the classroom. Cornell’s One-Course-At-Time (OCAAT) approach makes scheduling simple, and students often interact with visiting professionals for hours or even several days.

“At other schools a visiting lecture seems like a distraction from the normal range of courses,” says recent visiting speaker Cillian Ryan. “With OCAAT the visitor is a more integral part of the module and hence I think the students get a lot more out of it.”

Below is a list of recent Distinguished Visitors:

  • Kate Minette, Senior Vice President, Scoring, Operations and Quality, Pearson Educational Management.
  • Liz Sparks '75, Legal Counsel, AEGON USA.
  • Frank Cherry and Pablo Sitjar, RenMax brokerage house in Montivedeo, Uruguay.
  • Cillian Ryan, associate professor of economics at the University of Birmingham (UK).
  • Sydney Smith Hicks '69*, CEO of SSHICKS Advisors.
  • John Smith '71, President and CEO of CRST International, Inc.
  • Jim Hoffman, retired president of Alliant Energy Resources
  • Peter Fisher, a professor of urban and regional planning at the University of Iowa, and Lesley Chiou, an economics professor at Occidental College
