Application for Uruguay Course Trip Funding

You are invited to consider an exciting opportunity to participate in an international economics course that Professor A'amer Farooqi will be teaching in Uruguay and Argentina in October (Term 2, 2012-2013).

With support from the Berry Center, we are now able to offer substantial scholarships to a limited number of students who qualify.

ECB 323 (International Economics Seminar) was originally offered at a cost of $3400. We are now able to reduce the cost of course, and in addition, offer scholarships to selected students. Please consider the following changes to the course:

  • The course fee has now been reduced to $2900, and this will pay for a 15-day study trip to Montevideo, Uruguay and Buenos Aires, Argentina.
  • Scholarships of up to $500 will be available to a limited number of students. The scholarships will be offered on a competitive basis. Scholarship recipients will be able to participate in the course for a cost as low as $2400.
  • The course has now been renumbered to ECB 323/223. Students who have credit for ECB 301, ECB 302, and have junior standing will receive credit for ECB 323 (International Economics Seminar). Students who do not have these prerequisites, but have taken ECB 101 and ECB 102, will receive credit for ECB 223 (International Economics).
  • If you are interested in participating in the course, please apply for a scholarship by the deadline of 5 PM, Monday, April 23. The application should include an unofficial copy of your transcript and a personal statement. In the personal statement please indicate why you are interested in participating, and explain how this experience will benefit your program of study and your post-Cornell plans.
