Szczepanik earns academic honor for third consecutive year

MOUNT VERNON - Cornell College's Brittany Szczepanik (Appleton, Wis.) has been named to the 2008-09 National Golf Coaches Association Division III All-American Scholar Team, it was announced Wednesday.

Szczepanik graduated this spring with a major in English and a minor in Chemistry. She earned academic All-America honors for the third consecutive year. Szczepanik was one of eight women's golfers recognized from the Iowa Conference, including five from Wartburg and two from Luther.

Student-athletes selected maintained a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 and competed in at least 66 percent of the scheduled meets during the season.

Szczepanik led the Rams in scoring last season with a 91.9-stroke average per 18 holes. She placed 22nd at the IIAC Championships last fall, recording Cornell's top individual finish.
