Pak cards season-low 81 in Waverly

Ram rewind - Cornell shaved 25 strokes off its season-opening round and placed 20th in the 22-team field at the Wartburg Fall Invitational Sept. 12-13 at Centennial Oaks Golf Course in Waverly.

The Rams shot 415 in each round of the two-day tournament for an 830 total. Cornell showed marked improvement after carding a 440 in a dual with Coe on Sept. 1. All four Cornell golfers posted their lowest 18-hole rounds of the fall in Waverly.

Freshman Na Ra Pak (Richmond, Calif./Albany) paced Cornell's foursome, tying for 37th out of 104 golfers with a 173. She fired a 10-over par 81 on opening day, topping her previous best round by 11 strokes. Pak concluded the tournament with a 92.

Malloy Kerley (Fort Davis, Texas/Fort Davis) tied for 83rd with a 200, including a 98 in the first round. Lauren Leipold (Algonquin, Ill./Harry D. Jacobs) finished 96th with a 227, followed by Nicole Thompson (Arden Hills, Minn./Irondale) in 97th with a 230. 

Washington University (Mo.) took the team title with a 631, beating runner-up Wartburg by 11 strokes.
