Pak shoots 94 in dual with Coe

Coming up - Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 12-13, at Wartburg Invitational, Centennial Oaks, Waverly, 10 a.m.; Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 19-20, at St. Ambrose Invitational, Emeis, Davenport, 10 a.m.

Ram rewind - Cornell opened the 2009 women's golf campaign with a pair of meets last week, including a home dual with Coe Sept. 1 at Gardner Golf Course in Marion.

Na Ra Pak (Richmond, Calif./Albany) paced the Rams in a 382-440 setback to the Kohawks. The Cornell freshman placed third in the medalist race with a 94, only three shots off the leader.

Sophomore Nicole Thompson (Arden Hills, Minn./Irondale) came in seventh with a 114, followed by Lauren Leipold (Algonquin, Ill./Harry D. Jacobs) with a 115 and Malloy Kerley (Fort Davis, Texas/Fort Davis) with a 117.

The Rams competed in the Central Invitational Sept. 4-5 at Bos Landen Golf Club in Pella. Cornell did not field a team score with only three golfers making the trip. Pak tied for 25th in the 66-woman field, carding rounds of 96 and 92 for a two-day total of 188. Kerley shot 119-107 for a 226, which put her 60th. Leipold posted a 129 on the first day, but did not finish the tournament.
