Cowan becomes fourth member of women's 1,000-point club

Ram review - Five days after setting Cornell's career record for made 3-point goals, senior Tiffany Cowan (Independence, Mo./Truman) achieved another milestone in scoring her 1,000th career point.
Cowan tallied her 1,000th point on a layup with 4 minutes, 26 seconds remaining in the first half of Cornell's 70-67 Iowa Conference loss Saturday at Dubuque. The 5-foot-10 forward finished with 14 points against the Spartans, raising her career total to 1,010 points in 88 games with the Rams.
Cowan became the fourth Cornell women's basketball player to net 1,000 points in a career, joining Marni Chandlee (1,031 points, 1998-2002), Bindy Comito (1,036 points, 1998-2002) and Lisa Fry (1,189 points, 1998-2002).
Cowan is the school-record holder for career 3-point goals with 123. She broke Comito's mark of 114 Monday at Coe.
The Rams fell 66-45 at home Wednesday to Wartburg before dropping a three-point decision Saturday at Dubuque. Cornell moved to 5-12 overall, 0-9 in IIAC play.
Dubuque 70, Cornell 67 (Jan. 24, at Dubuque)
The Rams were a 3-point bucket short from claiming their first league win in a tightly-contested game that witnessed 11 ties and nine lead changes.
Kristin Paczosa (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) pulled the Rams to within 68-67 on a layup with 13 seconds remaining. Dubuque missed two free throws with 10 seconds left, but the Spartans grabbed the offensive rebound on the second miss. Dubuque was fouled again and hit both foul shots to make the score 70-67. Cornell's game-tying 3-point attempt from Morgan Woods (Milwaukee, Wis./University School of Milwaukee) was off the mark as time expired.
The Rams rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit and built their biggest lead at 56-51 with less than seven minutes to go. Cornell held a 32-30 edge on the boards.
Paczosa equaled her career high with 20 points, also set against Dubuque on Jan. 17. She made 6-of-12 field goals and went 8-of-9 from the foul line. Paczosa finished with a game-high eight rebounds, five on the offensive end. Cowan and Teresa Cecchetti (Dixon, Ill./Dixon) pitched in 14 and 13 points, respectively. Cecchetti also had seven rebounds and four assists.
Wartburg 66, Cornell 45 (Jan. 21, at Mount Vernon)
Cowan tossed in a game-high 19 points on 5-of-9 shooting from 3-point range, but the Rams went cold offensively in the second half against the Knights.
Charlotte Milas (Arlington Heights, Ill./Rolling Meadows) hit a jumper that put the Rams ahead 33-32 early in the second half. Wartburg then took control with a 21-3 run over the next 10 minutes and outscored the Rams 34-14 in the second half.
Cowan hit 7-of-14 field goals and also led all players with seven boards. Milas added nine points and four rebounds.
