Above all else, Coach Frey believes that a student-athlete's dedication and intensity towards his/her training will ultimately determine their success on and off the field of play. Arriving in July 2006, Frey is the first full-time strength and conditioning coordinator for Cornell College. Prior to arriving at Cornell, Frey was a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Illinois State University for two years, working with all 17 Division I varsity sports. In 2006 he received a master's degree in Kinesiology and Recreation from Illinois State University. Frey also was a student strength and conditioning coach at Central College while receiving his bachelor's degree in exercise science/health promotion in 2004. A native of Madrid, IA, Frey is a certified strength and conditioning specialist(CSCS) and a member of the national strength and conditioning association(NSCA). He also has his level 1 club coach certification through USA weightlifting. Additionally, Frey has excelled in the world of competitive powerlifting. In 2005 he set the Iowa APF junior powerlifting records for the bench press, squat, deadlift, and overall total in the 220 lb. class, placed first at the US junior national's meet in Austin, Texas, securing him a bid to the junior world championships, and won the 220 lb. class at the WPC world junior powerlifting championships in Helsinki, Finland. Frey resides in Mt. Vernon. |
