Senior Dinner FAQs

The annual Senior Dinner is the kick-off event for graduation weekend and has been a school tradition since 1989. It is co-sponsored by The Alumni Association of Cornell College and The Cornell Alumni Student Association (CASA). This event is exclusively for the graduating class and marks the end of the student life and the beginning of alumni life. Since non-seniors and parents are not included, it is also one of the last events the seniors get to do as a class.

This was hugely successful last year so we are doing it again! "Parting Shots" is a slide show running during the dinner. You may submit a favorite quote, farewell message or fond memory of Cornell. Your "parting shot" may also be in the form of a photo "shot" of you and/or your friends. This is meant to be a fun, reflective, entertaining way to celebrate your four years here at Cornell, therefore the Alumni Office reserves the right to refuse any inappropriate or in any way offensive submissions. You may attach your parting shots to your RSVP.

Q: How much does this cost?
A: Zip, zero, zilch. There will be a cash bar available, but the meal is sponsored by CASA and the Cornell Alumni Association and is free of charge.

Q: Is alcohol served?
A: Yes, there will be a cash bar adjacent to the banquet room. Soft drinks are available free of charge. Please bring a valid ID.

Q: Can I bring parents or a non-senior guest?
A: No. The student/parent dinner is the following night, therefore this event is reserved only for seniors to promote class unity.

Q: What should I wear?
A: Anything you are comfortable in. However, if you are looking for a reason to dress up a bit, this is it. The President and Katrina Garner will be in attendance. It would be very appropriate to wear nice shirts/ties and dresses.

Q: Can I show up without a RSVP?
A: No. We need to have an accurate count to give the caterer in order to prepare enough food. It is not fair to the students who RSVP to allow walk-ins. No exceptions.

Q: May I submit a parting "shot" even if I am not able to attend the dinner?
A: Yes. This is meant to be a fun, reflective, entertaining way to celebrate your four years here at Cornell, therefore the Alumni Office reserves the right to refuse any inappropriate or in any way offensive submissions. You may attach your parting shots to your RSVP.

Q: When will the event be over?
A: Approximately 8:00 pm.

Q: Who do I contact if my question isn't answered here?
A: Jackie Stewart in the Alumni Office. 895-4204
